ABOUT THE BVT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
With a commitment to education and rural America’s youth, BVT provides a variety of scholarship opportunities to graduating high school seniors of active customers. Through these programs, we’re able to offer $19,000 in scholarships to deserving students.
BVT Distinguished Scholarship
BVT will provide one scholarship in the amount of $2500 to a student whose parents and/or legal guardians are currently subscribed to a BVT service. Students will receive $1250 at the start of the first semester, and the remaining $1250 at the start of the second semester.
BVT Honorable Scholarship
BVT will provide 18 scholarships in the amount of $750 each to students whose parents and/or legal guardians are currently subscribed to a BVT service. This scholarship will be dispersed directly to the student, in full, at the start of the first semester.
BVT Vocation Award
BVT has allocated funds for career-based scholarships. Students enrolling in Information Technologies (IT) or Telecommunications and Networks Technologies programs will be eligible. Awards may vary in amount from year to year. A separate application is not necessary.
Virgil (Red) Kelley Memorial Scholarship
Through a generous donation from the family of the late Virgil (Red) Kelley, $2,100 will be awarded to students living in Centralia. Red served on the BVT board of directors for years and was always very passionate about education. Students applying for the BVT Scholarship from Centralia will automatically be considered for the Virgil (Red) Kelley Memorial Scholarship.
Qualifications for BVT Scholarships:
- Parent or legal guardian must be subscribed to a BVT service(s).
- Student's primary residence must be within the BVT service area.
- Children of BVT employees or directors are not eligible.
- Student must have a passing grade in each class.
Applications can be downloaded from this website each year. The deadline for applications is the second Saturday in March.
Please note: There is only one application form for all of the BVT scholarships. We will categorize your application for you and consider it for each scholarship for which you are eligible. Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Scholarship
The Foundation for Rural Services offers multiple scholarships in varying amounts each year. FRS awards are paid directly to the enrolled institution.

FRS Community Grant Program
The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) is a nonprofit organization that works in cooperation with NTCA-The Rural Broadband Association to sustain and enhance the quality of life in America by advancing an understanding of rural issues.
The FRS Community Grant Program is offered annually through NTCA members, like BVT, to support local efforts to build and sustain a high quality of life in rural America.
Please see the attached guidelines. Grants requests are accepted from $250-$5,000. BVT contributes 10% of the total grant award. *Please note: This is a national competition. Recipients are selected by FRS.
