Voicemail

Regular price: $3.00/month
Voicemail replaces your answering machine and can be checked from anywhere! You can tell you have a Voicemail if your Voicemail Indicator (available on some handsets) is lit, or if you hear a stutter in your dial tone.

Using voicemail for the first time:

  1. Dial *99 from your home phone.
  2. When prompted, enter the default password: 128821.
  3. Follow the voice prompts to set up your new mailbox.
  4. After set-up is complete, you will be brought to the Main Menu.

We suggest you choose a unique PIN number.

How to disable your PIN number:

  1. Dial *99 from your home phone.
  2. Press 4 for mailbox settings.
  3. Press 3 for security options.
  4. Press 3 to skip PIN.
  5. Press 1 to disable PIN.

Check voicemail from home phone:

You will hear a stutter dial-tone when you have one or more unheard voice messages. To check your messages:

  1. Dial *99 from your home phone.
  2. Follow the voice prompts.

Check voicemail from another phone:

  1. Dial 785.799.9996.
  2. Dial your telephone number and press *.
  3. When prompted, enter your 10 digit number.
  4. When prompted, enter your Voicemail password, followed by the #.
  5. If you have new messages, the messages will be identified.

Replying to a message:

While listening to a message, you can call the person back by pressing 4 and selecting the option 1. (This will not work on a system that was unable to identify the Caller ID info.)

Changing your voicemail password:

  1. Access your Voicemail box.
  2. From the Main Menu, press 4 to change your settings.
  3. Press 3 for security options.
  4. Press 1 to change the PIN.

Record a personal greeting:

  1. Access your Voicemail box.
  2. From the Main Menu, press 3.
  3. To set up a personal greeting, press 1.
  4. To set up a system generated greeting or to change the recording of your name, press 3.
  5. To change the greeting that callers hear when you’re busy, press 5.
  6. If you don’t record a personal greeting, a generic greeting will be played.

Caller ID Name & Number

Regular price: $5.75/month ($3.75month without Name)
Caller ID allows you see the calling party’s phone number before answering a call. A special display device located on or next to your phone is required to allow you to view the calling name and number.

Caller ID:

  1. Wait for the start of the second full ring of your phone set.
  2. The name and number of the calling party will appear on your display.

Call Waiting with Caller ID

Regular price: $8.74/month (includes Caller ID Name & Number)
Call Waiting informs you that another party is trying to contact you while you are engaged in a telephone conversation. You can answer the incoming call and talk privately without losing the original party. You can also alternate between parties. Caller ID with Call Waiting allows you to receive information about a calling party on a waiting call. (Note: You must have a Caller ID box capable of this service.)

Call Waiting:

  1. You will be notified of an incoming caller with an alert tone.
  2. To switch callers, depress and release the hook-switch or talk button on your phone.
  3. Your original party will go to hold once you are connected to your new party.
  4. You may deactivate Call Waiting on a per call basis by dialing *70 and waiting for the dial tone before you begin dialing.

Speed Calling

Regular price: 8#’s – $0.99/month; 30#’s – $1.25/month
Speed Calling allows you to store eight or 30 frequently called numbers and place such calls by dialing one or two-digit codes (using numbers 2-9). This includes long distance dialing.  Speed calling is available in the following two forms – the first enables you to initiate and change the codes from your telephone; the second prevents you from initiating and changing pre-established codes from your telephone, and is initiated at BVTC.

Speed Calling:

  1. To enter a speed-calling code, dial 74 for 8 number option or 75 for 30 number option, then wait 4 seconds for a dial tone.
  2. Dial the code number you wish to substitute for the directory number.
  3. Dial the directory number to be stored that corresponds to the code number selected in step 2 and wait 4 seconds for 2 bursts of dial tone, then hang up.
  4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for each number to be stored, using a different code each time.
  5. To replace a previously stored number with a new one, repeat steps 1 through 3.
  6. To use a speed calling code that has been programmed for your telephone, dial the selected code number and wait 4 seconds for the call to be placed.

Repeat Dialing

Regular price: $2.25/month
Repeat Dialing allows you to dial a code to have your phone continuously attempt to dial a busy number that you tried to call. When the line is free, you will be alerted with a special ringing, and the call will automatically be made.

Repeat dialing:

  1. Hang up, then lift the receiver and listen for a dial tone.
  2. Press *66.

If the line is busy:

  1. Listen for 3 beeps or an announcement telling you the number is busy.
  2. Hang up.
  3. You will hear a short-short-long ring when the line is free.
  4. Your call will automatically be made when you lift the handset.
  5. To cancel, press *86 and listen for tone or announcement.

Repeat dialing notes:

  • While Repeat Dialing is activated, you may still make and receive other calls.
  • Repeat Dialing will continuously attempt to call back a busy number for 30 minutes.  After 30 minutes, your request will be cancelled.
  • You can use Repeat Dialing for more than one busy number at a time.  You will hear a special ring when one of these numbers becomes idle; however, you will not be able to tell which number it is.
  • If the number you are trying to reach is outside the area served by Repeat Dialing, you will hear a recording advising you the call cannot be made.

Call Forwarding

Regular price: $0.99/month
Call Forwarding automatically forwards all calls to another location when you plan to be away from your telephone or you do not wish to receive any calls. (Note: You, not the originating party, are billed for any long distance charges when the forward-to number is outside your local area).

Delayed Call Forwarding:

With this option, the forward-to number and number of rings has been selected by you and are permanently programmed by Blue Valley. Forwarding is automatic if your telephone is not answered after the indicated number of rings. This feature is limited to local calls and is always activated and deactivated by Blue Valley.

Fixed Call Forwarding to Fixed Number Immediately:

With this option, the forward-to number has been selected by you and permanently programmed by Blue Valley.

Call Forwarding:

  • To activate, dial *72.
  • To deactivate, dial *73.

Remote Call Forwarding:

  1. Dial 1.785.799.9998 (or local 799.9998).
  2. You will be prompted to enter the phone number you want to forward to.
  3. You will be prompted to enter your PIN code (this has to be different than your Voicemail PIN code).
  4. You will be prompted to access code *72.
  5. When you hear the dial tone, enter the number you are forwarding to.
  6. *73 will disable.

Preferred Call Forwarding

Regular price: $2.50/month
Preferred Call Forwarding allows you to create a list of phone numbers that are to be forwarded when they call you. When you activate this service, and a call arrives from a phone number on your list, the call is forwarded. All other calls will not be forwarded.

Preferred Call Forwarding:

  1. Press *63
  2. Listen to the prompts which guide you through:
    1. Turn off Preferred Call Forwarding
    2. Make changes to Preferred Call Forwarding list.
    3. How to enter, confirm, or change the forward-to number.

Toll Control with PIN

Regular price: $1.25/month
Toll Control with PIN prevents long distance dialing from your phone unless the toll control access code is used, followed by your PIN.

Toll Control with PIN:

  1. Dial 1 + 10 digit number.
  2. Wait to hear 2 beeps.
  3. Enter your 4 digit code.

Call Trace

Regular price: $4.75/month
Call Trace allows you to automatically request a trace of an obscene, threatening or harassing call.  After receiving such a call, you simply dial a special code to have the calling party’s phone number printed at Blue Valley.

Call Trace:

  1. Hang up after receiving the call.
  2. Lift the receiver and listen for dial tone.
  3. Press *57 and listen for tone or announcement.
  4. After requesting a Call Trace, you should call Blue Valley if you want the call to be investigated further.  Please call before the end of the next business day.

Priority Ringing

Regular price: $2.50/month
Priority Ringing allows you to program your telephone line to ring with a special ringing pattern whenever you are called from a select list of phone numbers. Your phone will ring the normal ringing pattern for all other numbers. If you also have Call Waiting, you will hear a distinctive Call Waiting tone whenever someone on your list calls while you are on the phone.

Priority Ringing:

  1. Press *61.
  2. Listen to the prompts which guide you through:
    1. Turn Priority Ringing off.
    2. Make changes to your Priority Ringing list.

Call Screening

Regular price: $2.50/month
Call Screening allows you to create a list of phone numbers from which you do not want to receive calls from. Calls from phone numbers on your list are sent to an announcement that informs the caller that you are not receiving calls at this time.

Call Screening:

  1. Press *60.
  2. Listen to the prompts which guide you through:
    1. Turn off Call Screening.
    2. Make changes to Call Screening.

Special Call Acceptance

Regular price: $2.50/month
Special Call Acceptance allows you to screen incoming calls by creating a list of phone numbers from which you are willing to accept calls for a time period. Calls from phone numbers not contained on your list are sent to an announcement that informs the caller that you are not receiving calls at this time.

Special Call Acceptance:

  1. Press *64.
  2. Listen to the voice prompts which guide you through:
    1. Turn off Special Call Acceptance.
    2. Make change to Special Call Acceptance.

Call Return

Regular price: $2.25/month
Call Return allows you to dial a code and then have a call automatically returned to the last party who called or attempted to call you.

Call Return:

  1. Press *69.
  2. Listen for an announcement that will tell you the phone number of the party who last called you.
  3. If you wish to return the call, press 1.
  4. To cancel, press *89 and listen for tone or announcement.

Special Number Blocking or Private DN

Regular price $2.25/month
Special Number Blocking allows the caller’s information to be displayed as private on a Caller ID box.

Special Number Blocking:
To deactivate this feature, the caller must press *82 for each call.

3-Way Calling

Regular price $0.99/month
3-Way Calling allows you to add a third party to a previously established connection. If either party hangs up after the conference, you are still connected to the remaining party.

3-Way Calling:

  1. Depress and release the hook-switch to put the original party on hold.  Listen for 3 bursts of dial tone, followed by a steady dial tone.
  2. Dial the number of the third party. When this party answers, you can talk privately.  When you are ready to establish the conference connection, depress and release the hook-switch. 
  3. When you hang up, all parties are disconnected and the call is complete.

Teen Service/Fax Line

Regular price: $5-$10/month
Teen Service/Fax Line allows customers to have multiple directory number on the same line with distinctive ringing.

Wake-Up Plus

Regular price: $0.99/month
Wake-Up Plus allows you to set a time you want your phone to ring, whether you need a wake-up call or a reminder for kids to switch the laundry.  Not only does this give you a reliable time, but allows you to record your own messages.

Wake-Up Plus:

  1. Dial the prefix + 9955.
  2. Follow the prompts.
