Blue Valley to Deploy Fiber-to-the-Home in Marysville

Blue Valley Technologies (BVT) revealed today plans to deploy fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) to Marysville residents. The engineering phase of this project is currently underway and a necessary element before any physical work can begin. More specific information will be released as additional timelines become available.

BVT was one of the first companies in the nation to deploy FTTH to even its most rural customers, when it rolled this technology out to Onaga customers in 2007. By 2009 each of the company’s original 12 exchanges were operating with this future-ready technology.

“Currently our Marysville network is a healthy mix of fiber-to-the-home and fiber-to-the-node,” said chief operating officer, John Smith. “We have worked hard to maintain networks that are robust and capable of handling the current technological demands of our customers.”

Chief Executive Officer, Candace Wright followed that by adding, “Deploying fiber-to-the-home allows us [BVT] to ensure Marysville is future ready. While the technology in place today is sufficient, we want the community to know we are committed for the long haul.”

Fiber has long been regarded by the experts as the “best technology to handle consumer network demands in the coming decades”. Having been recently named Gig Certified and also winning the designation for its service territory of Smart Rural Communities by NTCA-The Rural Broadband Association, BVT is no stranger to the appeal of fiber.

“BVT has been focused on community and economic development since its inception in 1956. By increasing our fiber footprint, we have the opportunity to drive economic growth inside these communities. Infrastructure is a crucial component when recruiting businesses and families to an area,” said Jada Ackerman, public relations director.

The company updated Marysville’s coaxial network in 2015 and deployed fiber to the business district in 2016. At present, the company provides, high speed internet, telephone, and cable television services over its current network.

BVT leaders continue to evaluate the feasibility of fiber deployment to other areas. Fiber projects currently underway include the city of Bern, the rural area east of Winifred, and the rural area north of Frankfort.
